About Valere

Dewey Roof has spent his entire professional career immersed in public health, with a journey that reflects his growing passion for healthcare innovation and interoperability. He began in hospital care, working in Phase II-IV cardiopulmonary rehabilitation with Greenville, SC’s Health System HeartLife program. This early experience gave him insight into the complexities of patient recovery and coordination. Dewey then shifted to occupational wellness at Michelin Tire Corporation, where he successfully developed medical and case management programs that reduced injury-related downtime by over 50%. His programs continue to be used nationwide today.

In 2000, Dewey was introduced to the Durable Medical Equipment (DME) industry, where he quickly rose through the ranks, eventually launching and leading a DME division within a pharmaceutical distribution company. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to share ownership of Long’s Drugs’ DME division before acquiring the balance of the company, resulting in the creation of LifeHME, Inc., a company born out of his vision for improving care in the home health market. Throughout this journey, Dewey realized a fundamental need for seamless interoperability across healthcare systems—a challenge he has continued to address with unwavering focus.

Today, Dewey serves as the CEO of Valere Health, where he leads the company’s mission to bridge gaps in healthcare technology through innovative solutions that promote interoperability and streamline the patient care continuum. Under his leadership, Valere Health focuses on integrating data and care processes across various platforms, empowering providers to deliver more efficient, coordinated, and value-based care. Dewey’s vision is to create a healthcare landscape where technology enables—not hinders—the flow of vital information, ensuring patients receive the right care at the right time.

With over 12 years of experience in clinical entrepreneurship and commercial optimization, Kris has played a pivotal role in organizations such as McKesson Medical Surgical, Fresenius Kidney Care, and Syneos Health.

Additionally, he serves on the boards of the American Association for Homecare, the Luzerne Foundation, the Central PA Kidney Foundation, and the Board of Trustees at Wyoming Seminary College Preparatory School.

His innovative approach to solving complex healthcare challenges has driven significant improvements in care delivery and reimbursement models. As a passionate advocate for value-based care, Kris continuously educates industry leaders on integrated health solutions that enhance patient outcomes.

In his new role at Valere Health, Kris will lead strategic initiatives and expand the company’s mission in bringing healthcare together through our interoperability ecosystem.

Chris is the COO of Valere Health, responsible for business workflow strategy and implementation of the company’s transformative post-acute technology and analytics solutions for its industry partners. Chris has dedicated his career to the development and deployment of solutions driving more efficient, reliable delivery of patients’ post-acute healthcare products and services, improving patient care, and promoting positive health outcomes in the home. Chris has a passion for people and is driven by the pursuit of excellence in the delivery of value-based health care solutions across the care continuum.

Chris has more than 20 years’ experience in all aspects of the HME industry, including HME product ordering and delivery, patient education, medical documentation qualification, third party claims billing, accounts receivable, physician engagement, business management, and technology development. Chris has served as operations manager for two independent HME retail pharmacies, and he was a market analyst for QS/1 for 8 years, the industry’s leading provider of pharmacy management software. While with QS/1, Chris worked closely with providers, customers, software users, and business partners to guide the future development of software platforms in three healthcare markets. Through ongoing business assessments and accreditation preparation, Chris has repeatedly developed and implemented more efficient models and workflow processes, driving maximum productivity and regulatory compliance.

Prior to joining Valere, Chris was a founder and VP of Corporate Systems Development for LifeH2H Solutions, a hospital to home technology solutions and patient care services company. Chris led the development of LifeH2H’s SaaS platform for compliant HME order processing, and formed a care services company, LifeTouch, to deliver patient care coordination and provider care for patients living with chronic conditions. While now focused on the entire post-acute care spectrum of patient needs, Chris remains active in the HME industry as an advocate and educator, and serves on the Medtrade Education Advisory Board.

Chris received his Bachelor of Science degree in business management from North Greenville University in Tigerville, South Carolina. He is active in his church, enjoys cooking BBQ, and is a proud husband and father of a house full of girls.

Doug is the CTO & CIO of Valere Health, where he brings over three decades of strategy and technology experience, including twenty-two years in healthcare. Doug is passionate about driving value through technology while maintaining a constant focus on the needs of clinicians and patients. Doug has worked the entire spectrum of healthcare from supporting the needs of the care clinic and pharmacy, to ensuring the success of supplier, wholesaler and manufacturing operations in both medical products and pharmaceuticals, to streamlining revenue cycle processes with insurers.

Prior to joining Valere’s executive team, Doug served as the Technology Transformation leader for McKesson. He was CIO of Patient Care Solutions, McKesson’s HME business unit, and has led development, data warehousing and analytics, and data communications organizations. In his business and technology strategy and architecture role, Doug developed and implemented an integration approach that supported a $3B acquisition -- preserving market share and cutting months of risk from the business case, enabling product delivered ahead of schedule, high customer satisfaction, and limiting unplanned employee turnover.

As a technology leader over the years, Doug has surveyed thousands, and implemented or developed hundreds, of healthcare technology platforms, solutions, and products. Doug also has implemented numerous programs and processes improving throughput and value creation from technical resources, and the teams and tools under his management. Doug has trained hundreds of employees on agile software development practices, holding certifications with the Scrum Alliance, Scaled Agile and ITIL. A committed supporter of DevOps principles and practices, Doug implemented automated testing tools and techniques with McKesson that eliminated thousands of hours otherwise spent on manual testing.

Doug is a veteran, and after his US Air Force service, he spent a decade in the defense industry where he developed communications systems, round-trip testing protocols and technology interfaces to numerous comm devices. Doug received a USAF commendation medal during his service, and earned McKesson’s Change Leadership Award while also being selected as one of the first recipients of McKesson’s TechStar Awards.

Doug received his bachelor's degree in business from Excelsior College and his MBA in Healthcare Administration from American Intercontinental University. Although an avid reader who enjoys painting and experimenting with homebrewing, Doug’s one brush with fame came in 2012 with his one-day championship run on “Jeopardy!” Doug is married with six children and resides in Richmond, Virginia.
